About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Non-Contentious Construction Legal Director to join a high-performing and highly regarded legal team in Manchester. In this key position, you will be responsible for providing strategic, high-level legal advice to a range of clients in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Your role will focus on non-contentious matters, including contract negotiation, drafting, and project support, whilst collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on non-contentious construction matters, including contract negotiation, drafting, and review, ensuring compliance with current legislation and industry best practices.
  • Support clients on a variety of projects, from inception through to completion, offering practical solutions to complex construction-related issues.
  • Draft and review contracts, including building contracts, professional appointments, and related documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to manage project risks and ensure successful delivery.
  • Assist clients with procurement strategies and the formation of effective project teams.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts within the construction sector.
  • Lead and mentor junior lawyers and trainees, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.


Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience in non-contentious construction law, gained in a leading law firm or in-house legal team.
  • A deep understanding of construction law, contract law, and the construction industry, with practical experience advising on a wide range of projects.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with a focus on clarity and precision.
  • Ability to manage complex legal issues and provide pragmatic, commercially focused solutions.
  • Proven track record of working with a wide range of clients, including developers, contractors, consultants, and public sector bodies.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with the ability to inspire and support junior colleagues.
  • A proactive and forward-thinking approach to business development.
