Portfolio Underwriting Manager - Commercial Motor
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Underwriter to manage and develop a team of underwriters, ensuring top-tier performance across our insurance business. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting a bespoke commercial motor product, managing policy preparation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with various departments, including Actuarial, Pricing, and Claims, to optimise underwriting processes and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a team of underwriters, driving performance and maintaining high standards.
- Underwrite bespoke commercial motor products, ensuring tailored coverage and competitive pricing.
- Review pricing requests and work closely with the Pricing/Actuarial teams to ensure appropriate pricing and profitability.
- Conduct monthly performance reviews, identifying key movements and recommending actions.
- Coordinate the annual review of programs to adjust premiums and meet customer needs.
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration.
- Stay updated with industry regulations and provide guidance on complex underwriting matters.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in underwriting, with significant experience in personal lines or commercial motor underwriting.
- Proven ability to make complex decisions and analyse insurance trends.
- Strong financial and risk analysis skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with underwriting models is a plus.
