Trading Underwriter
Job description
This leading composite insurer is on a roll, and they're growing their Trading Hub in Glasgow with exciting opportunities in both new business and renewal work.
In the past 12 months, six experienced underwriters have made this their new professional home, and it's clear why: solid financial results, a forward-thinking succession plan, and a supportive culture that sets people up for success.
What's the secret sauce?
As the team grows and senior members begin to hang up their underwriting boots, it opens the door to incredible mentoring opportunities and knowledge transfer. This means you'll not only grow your skills but also position yourself for a senior role down the line.
Your potential? Consider it unlocked.
The Role at a Glance:
As a Commercial Trading Underwriter, you'll:
- Underwrite profitable mid-market commercial business across the Scottish broker market, working with both national and regional brokerages.
- Handle a mix of core P&C lines (Property & Casualty) in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Build and manage strong relationships with key broker contacts to deliver exceptional service.
- Operate under an underwriting license tailored to your current experience, with opportunities to grow and expand your expertise.
- Be part of a team that values collaboration and strategic thinking, ensuring long-term success for both clients and brokers.
What's in it for you?
- Flexibility that works for you: Enjoy a hybrid working setup tailored to your lifestyle. Choose the balance between home and office that fits your rhythm.
- Engaging work: Be part of a dynamic commercial unit underwriting profitable business across Scotland's broker market in the mid-market space.
- Relationship-building: Collaborate with national and regional brokerages across key P&C classes, building meaningful partnerships with top broker contacts.
The Offer:
- Competitive salary up to £45,000
- A stellar benefits package, including a 14% pension contribution and annual bonus
- A clear pathway to grow your underwriting license and technical expertise
- Mentorship from some of the best in the business
What You'll Bring to the Table:
We're looking for someone with experience in commercial insurance and a genuine drive to sharpen their skills -whether that's developing deeper technical expertise or honing your broker relationship abilities.
Location:
Anywhere in Scotland works for us, as long as you can make it to Glasgow for the occasional meeting.
The Process? Simple and Straightforward:
- Drop us a note to register your interest - a quick call or email will do!
- Meet the regional manager over coffee for a casual chat in Glasgow.
- Nail a competency-based interview (don't worry, we'll prep you and even help with your answers if you need a hand).
