Legal Counsel - Shipping

Job description

A global marine energy company is seeking a 1-3 PQE Shipping/Commodities lawyer to join the team in London.

The Legal Counsel will be responsible for:

  • Drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts including: general terms and conditions, supply agreements, and cargo sale/purchase contracts
  • Advising on vessel ownership issues such as fleet insurance renewals, vessel registrations, ship management agreements and crewing issues.
  • Advising on regulatory developments in shipping and marine energy.
  • Advising on developments relating to LNG bunkering, alternative fuels, emissions trading and carbon neutral bunkering.
  • Advising on and resolving significant claims and commercial disputes
  • Instructing and managing external counsel.


This position is ideal for a 1-3 PQE Shipping Associate looking to make the move in-house, into a business offering good support from Senior Counsel as well as a genuine work/life balance.
