Claims Executive

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Claims Professional who has previously handled Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims.

This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to efficiently manage a caseload while maintaining a commercial focus.

This role also requires a close working relationship with members, solicitors, loss adjusters and other service providers to ensure claims are handled effectively and in accordance with the provided covers.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Manage a portfolio of EL and PL claims from notification to settlement, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution and
  • There may also be a requirement to assist with Property, Travel, and Professional Indemnity claims as needed.
  • Referral of claims outside individual handling authority in accordance with referral requirements.
  • Investigate claims thoroughly, gathering necessary information and evidence as required.
  • Assess coverage, legal liability and quantum, negotiate settlements and mitigate potential losses.
  • Liaise with Members, third parties, and service providers to ensure fair and accurate claim outcomes.
  • Ensure tasks are handled promptly and to a high standard and in accordance with our claims handling procedures, other internal policies or guidelines, Claims Charter, and regulatory requirements (including UK data protection legislation).
  • Ensure claim reserves are regularly reviewed to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of all claim activities within internal systems.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, keeping Members informed throughout the claims process including at claim conclusion.
  • Support the wider claims team and contribute to process improvements.
  • Work closely with all parts of the business to help ensure the high level of service that our Members are entitled to expect, and demand is delivered, including underwriting, risk management, accounts, IT, and marketing.
  • Participate in meetings with Members and service providers, to discuss claim related issues and prepare such documentation as is necessary to facilitate and record the meetings.
  • Assist in ensuring that service providers deliver a market leading, cost-effective service to both Members and the business by monitoring their performance, quality, and cost.
  • Fully participate in individual and shared project work and assignments, as required.

The successful candidate will have;

  • Previous experience handling EL and PL claims.
  • Exposure to Property, Travel, and Professional Indemnity claims is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance and claims handling principles and processes, coverage, legal liability, and quantum assessment.
  • First-class customer focus and an ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • A strong analytical mind with an attention to detail.
