Senior Risk and Compliance Lawyer

IDEX are currently partnered with a law firm in the South West who are seeking a Senior Risk & Compliance Lawyer on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This role will support the Director of Risk in delivering the firm's risk management and compliance services. The successful candidate will provide GRC and legal support, this will include management of claims and complaints and any escalations to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise claims and complaints and liaising with internal and external stakeholders on important matters (e.g., insurers, Legal Ombudsman)
  • Review, analyse, and report on complaints and claims management information to senior stakeholders
  • Provide legal advice on risk and compliance matters (e.g., money laundering and sanctions matters, conflicts of interests, bribery and corruption, FATCA, and FCA regulation)
  • Support the Data Protection Manager with GDPR compliance
  • Review the firm's contracts and retainer terms
  • Suspicious Activity Reporting


Skills, Experience, and Attributes:

  • Qualified Solicitor or qualified by experience in a Risk and Compliance role within a legal setting
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in dealing with claims and regulatory matters (including SRA Standards and Regulations)
  • Excellent communications and senior stakeholder management
  • Experience in line management within a compliance role


The client are a Top 100 law firm with offices in London and across the South West. Hybrid working is available but the preference is for a candidate in the Bristol, Swindon, Cheltenham area.
