Senior Tax Associate

Our client is one of the worlds leading law firms, they are looking to grow their tax practice in London by hiring an experienced Tax Associate.


Purpose of role
The team offers extensive training and support to enable you to develop a successful career. This role is ideally suited to a 4-6 year PQE Lawyer, however we will consider more senior candidates or an associate looking to move into a more senior position.

  • Training and supporting you to enable you to be the best Tax Lawyer you can
  • You will be working, and taking a lead, on a variety of market leading international and UK projects
  • You will gain experience of a range of transactions including private equity, structured finance (including securitisations), real estate, banking (including real estate finance), commercial and general tax advisory
  • We are committed to flexible working, partly at home and in the office


Required experience, skills and attributes

  • Areas including advising on corporate structures, business and family wealth planning, UK inbound and outbound investment; as well as dealing with ad hoc enquiries
  • You will work with our clients and colleagues based in the UK and internationally
  • Whilst a large amount of work is advisory, the role will also include providing tax support to other teams within the firm, in particular, on M&A, real estate and banking / structured finance transactions. The role will also include some exposure to tax litigation matters
  • You will maintain up to date industry knowledge and working knowledge/understanding of relevant areas of tax law
  • You will demonstrate pro-activity in proposing commercial solutions to clients and colleagues, acting as a Business Advisor
  • You will support Partners whilst developing your own skills to enable you to work autonomously on certain matters
  • You will develop and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues up to the most senior levels
  • You will have responsibility for supervising the more junior members of the team
  • You will contribute to the team's business development activities and proactively engage with clients as well as being able to demonstrate an awareness of the firm's proactive areas and business development strategy, identifying and taking opportunities to cross sell


Technical Skills

  • You will have trained with a recognised legal firm or in-house team and will have exposure to tax advisory work
  • A strong legal background
  • Ability to work with a degree of independence
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Exceptional drafting skills
  • Exceptional legal research ability


Personal attributes

  • Proactive approach with a 'can do' attitude and genuine enthusiasm for tax issues
  • Excellent academic results, including at least a 2:1 degree or equivalent from a top University
  • The ability to take responsibility to manage your own workload, with attention to detail
  • Committed to developing your own career
  • Excellent team and client management skills
  • A desire to get involved with business development
